About Linden Plumbing
Linden is a peaceful suburb of Johannesburg that is located on the border of Randburg in the western suburbs of the city. Linden can be found in the green foothills of Northcliff Hill. The town lies on a slope and is known for its lush greenery and pretty houses. Linden was specifically designed so that streets and avenues form regularly shaped blocks. The old houses of Linden, which have recently been restored, are particularly beautiful.
Linden grew into a town through fruit farming. In 1934, there were an estimated 350 families living in Linden. These families predominantly comprised of fruit farmers who benefited from the rich and fertile soil of the area. In the 1950s, the town started to move away from fruit farming and the area became populated by affluent Afrikaans families. While fruit farming is no longer a regular day-to-day occurrence in the lives of those living in Linden, peach trees can still be found throughout the town.
In more recent times, the town has attracted the younger generation who are looking to escape the city. Today, Linden’s tree-lined avenues comprise of old and new independent shops and cafes. In the 1960s, Arthur Bales haberdashery first opened its doors and it has been operating ever since. Rembrandt’s Butchery and the Cheese Café are other must-visit local shops.
The café and restaurant cultures are also booming in Linden. Morning, noon, or evening, you will be guaranteed to find something to satisfy whichever craving you may have, from light breakfasts to lazy lunches and fancy dinners.
Other must-sees when you are in the area are the Botanical Gardens, Emmarentia Dam and Linden’s heated pools. Linden itself is surrounded by natural parks and bird sanctuaries, like the Florence Bloom Bird Sanctuary, which makes the daily scenery enough to enjoy your stay in the town.
